My major revisions are in and production is moving ahead on the sequel to REBEL FALLS.
The new novel opens just after the Civil War ends and involves the Fenians. Who were the Fenians? Irish-Americans who came to North America during the Potato Famine or "Great Hunger" in their homeland. The Fenians fought on both sides during the Civil War and when the Confederacy surrendered, they turned their attention north of the border.
The Fenians' new plan was to seize land in then British Canada and exchange it for free territory back in Ireland. Sounds far-fetched, doesn't it? But as with REBEL FALLS, much of the new novel is based upon true events.
Rory Chase returns as the protagonist, along with Wreet, Mr. Douglas and the crack staff at the Cataract House hotel in Niagara Falls, N.Y. And there are plenty of new characters, too, including the poet-politician D'Arcy McGee.
Publication date will be early 2027. In additon, a trade-paperback editon of REBEL FALLS, which won the W.Y. Boyd Award for Historical Fiction, will be released about the same time.
More updates will be announced here. Also, please follow my Substack column, Endnotes & Backstory, for more of my writing.
