The signing with Hall of Famer Stan Mikita for my kids' sports novel, My Man Stan, was a huge hit. Thanks to everybody for turning out at the Hawkfest convention at the Hilton in Chicago. Special thanks to Stan, the Blackhawks' marketing staff and Stan's daughter, Jane. For the signing we shared the booth occupied by the Blackhawks' cheerleaders. As Stan said when he arrived, "Tim, I like your neighborhood." If only all signings came with cheerleaders and a Hall of Fame hockey player. Varsity Letters -- July 2008
It was a great scene in New York with Milton Jamail, author of "Venezuelan Bust, Baseball Boom" and Deidre Silva and Jackie Koney, co-authors of "It Takes More Than Balls: The Savvy Girls' Guide to Understanding and Enjoying Baseball." Here's a link to that gig from Gelf Magazine. February 2007
